Police arraign man over alleged assault

Police on Wednesday, arraigned a 37-year-old man, Jelili Ifabiyi  for alleged  assaulted on Victoria Olanrewaju.

Ifabiyi, whose address is unknown, was brought before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on two-count charges of assault and battery.

He, pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose told court that the defendant committed the offences on April 3, at about 7:00 p.m. at Check Point Bus stop, Badagry expressway, Badagry Area of Lagos.

Okuoimose said the defendant allegedly hit Victoria Olanrewaju with fist blow on her right eye which caused her swollen and reddish eye.

The prosecutor said that the defendant assaulted the complainant by pouring water on her.

He said the  offences contravened  Sections 170 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adefioye said that one of the sureties must be gainfully employed.

He adjourned the case until May 11, for mention.
