Police on Monday, arraigned a 29-year-old man, Adeyemi Taiwo, before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is being tried for alleged breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 16, at about 1.59 p.m. at Arima area, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by sending a fake credit message of N35,000 to the complainant, Abdullahi Modupe, knowing the claim to be false.
He said that the offence contravened Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code,Law of Ogun,2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adeyemi, granted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two surgeries in like sum.
Adeyemi ordered that such sureties, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, should be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
She adjourned the case until April 4 for further hearing.
