Some ward chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have dumped the party.
The ward chairmen who are from Saki West Local Government Area in Oke Ogun geo-political, announced their defection from PDP to Accord on Friday.
The ward chairmen announced that they and thousands of other members of PDP have joined Accord ahead of 2023 elections.
The former PDP chairmen led by their leader, Hon. Abdulsalam Rafiu Arikewusope publicly announced their defection from PDP to Accord in the presence of the Oyo North Senatorial candidate of Accord, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller.
Arikewusope, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, explained that their decision to join Accord was informed by the yearning, aspiration and interest of the majority of Oke-Ogun indigenes.
He added that the people of Oke Ogun which has ten local government areas have unanimously identified with Peller’s liberation mission in the zone.
Chairman of Accord in the state, Prince Felix Kolade Ojo, while welcoming the new members, insisted that the party is on liberation mission in the state.
He added that the party embraced internal democracy in all its dealings.
Peller, in his response, assured the new members that they have made the right decision.
He expressed confidence that the party will be victorious in the 2023 general elections.
