“Philip Shaibu a threat to Edo state’s stability ahead of governorship election” – Group tells Tinubu

A pro-democracy group in Edo state has urged President Bola Tinubu to call Philip Shaibu to order. Shaibu was recently reinstated as the deputy governor of Edo state, but the judgement is still being appealed.

However, Shaibu resumed today, declaring on social media that he has resumed as the number two man in the state.

The state government immediately issued a statement denouncing Shaibu and called him an impersonator.

Reacting to the events, the Edolites For Peace and Progress, called on the president to take immediate and decisive action against Shaibu.

According to the Edo State Government, Shaibu, despite the ongoing legal contest regarding his reinstatement, has resumed official duties and directed staff as if his position were officially reinstated. This move has been described as a clear case of impersonation, aimed at destabilizing the state ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

The State Government has emphasized that Shaibu’s actions are not only illegal but represent a calculated effort to create chaos and confusion. The ongoing legal proceedings regarding Shaibu’s reinstatement are still unresolved, with the next court hearing scheduled for September 24, 2024.

Philip Shaibu’s recent behavior has raised concerns due to his history of using violence and intimidation to achieve political goals. His current actions are seen as a continuation of this pattern, posing a significant threat to the stability of Edo State and the integrity of the electoral process.

The Edolites For Peace and Progress has strongly condemned Shaibu’s actions and has called on security agencies to arrest him immediately to prevent further disruption. They have also urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and hold Shaibu accountable for his actions.

Madam Adesua Odigie, the leader of the group said in a statement: ”Shaibu’s actions are not only illegal but represent a calculated effort to create chaos and confusion.

”The ongoing legal proceedings regarding Shaibu’s reinstatement are still unresolved, with the next court hearing scheduled for September 24, 2024.

”Shaibu’s current actions pose a threat to the stability of Edo State and the integrity of the forthcoming governorship election.

”The Edolites For Peace and Progress strongly condemns Shaibu’s actions and we call on security agencies to arrest him immediately to prevent further disruptions in the business of governance in our dear state.

”We call on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and hold Shaibu accountable for his actions.”
