PDP’s Sen Aliero defeats APC Govs’ chairman Bagudu in Kebbi Central

Senator Adamu Aliero, a former governor, has won the Kebbi Central senatorial election, defeating the incumbent Atiku Bagudu.

Bagudu is the chairman of Progressives Governors Forum, PGF, the body of All Progressives Congress, APC, governors.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared the results on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi, the capital.

Professor Abbas Bazata of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi said Aliero polled 126,588 votes against Bagudu’s 92,389 votes.

Aliero’s supporters had warned INEC not to tamper with the results which were expected to be announced on Monday.

Exactly three weeks ago, the lawmaker declared that the people of the state would vote out the APC in the general election.
