PDP condemns killing, kidnapping in Kaduna, urges security agents to brace up

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna State Chapter, on Thursday, condemned the continuous kidnapping and killings of residents in the state.

In a statement on Thursday by Abraham Alberah Catoh, Kaduna State Publicity Secretary of the party, he said the unabated kidnapping and demand for huge sums as ransom has left many parents of the victims in perpetual poverty and frustration.

According to him, “the PDP raised the alarm over the spate of kidnappings and wanton killings in the state, after several innocent citizens of communities in different parts of the state were kidnapped and some killed within their communities and farms in recent times.”

According to him, the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration of Governor Nasir Elrufai has failed to secure the lives and property of the citizens of the state.

The statement further explained that it was amazing that the governor could not stop terrorists from attacking innocent citizens, even with huge sums claimed to have been expended on the security of lives and property

“Amongst these latest killed victims is the PDP ward Chairman of Idon Ward, Kajuru Local Government, who was killed at his farm, while harvesting his crops,” he said.

The statement further called on the state, Federal Government and all the security agencies to brace up for the huge challenges to mitigate these acts of terrorism by providing more improved security in the state and the entire country, adding that the 2023 general elections are around the corner, and there is the need for more security.

The party urged the security agencies to, as a matter of strategy, set up a 24-hour joint patrol on all major highways and forests within the state and also collaborate with other neighbouring states to achieve the needed solutions to nip these challenges in the bud.

The statement further added that economic activities in the state, especially farming, have come to a halt while kidnapping and wanton killings have become the order of the day, as citizens can no longer travel for their business engagements or go to their farms for fear of being kidnapped, maimed and killed.
