PDP chairman Ayu returns to Nigeria amid party crisis

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu on Friday, returned to the country.

The leader of the opposition was out of Nigeria on a two-week trip to Europe.

His Special Adviser on Media, Simon Imobo-Tswam announced his return in a statement Friday night.

Ayu, who jetted out on September 14, returned to Abuja via the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, at about 7pm.

Before he left, the political leader handed over to the party’s Deputy Chairman (North), Amb. Iliya Damagun.

The power shift was communicated to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Ayu, a former Senate President, is back in Nigeria as his party faces bribery allegations over the outcome of the presidential primary.
