The Lead Coordinator of PBAT Medic Plus Outreach, Prince Matthew James Avabee, has led a delegation to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office in Isolo, Lagos, to seek strategic collaboration with the agency on its nationwide healthcare intervention programme.
The delegation met with the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Christiana Adeyeye, alongside senior directors and officials of the agency.
Also present at the meeting were members of the PBAT Medic Plus team, the South-West Zonal Liaison Officer, Hon. Dominic Odigo Shanu, and other committee members from the zone.
Speaking during the meeting, Avabee commended Adeyeye for her efforts towards strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare and regulatory systems, describing them as consistent with the healthcare objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He briefed the NAFDAC management on the vision and objectives of PBAT Medic Plus Outreach, particularly its plan to conduct free medical outreaches across 100 Federal Constituencies.
According to him, the programme will provide medical consultations, health screenings, health education, medications and referrals to underserved communities across the country.
He also solicited NAFDAC’s support and collaboration for the initiative, including the organisation’s plan to facilitate free health insurance coverage for thousands of older Nigerians as part of efforts to improve healthcare access for vulnerable groups.
Responding, Adeyeye commended the initiative and expressed the agency’s support for programmes aimed at expanding access to healthcare services at the grassroots.
She stressed the importance of stronger partnerships between government institutions, organisations and community-based initiatives in achieving the Federal Government’s healthcare objectives under President Tinubu.
The NAFDAC Director-General further underscored the need for coordinated efforts to improve healthcare delivery and ensure that vulnerable Nigerians have greater access to quality medical services.
The PBAT Medic Plus delegation also formally invited Adeyeye and other NAFDAC officials to the forthcoming Grand Unveiling Ceremony of the organisation, which will mark the official launch of its nationwide healthcare intervention programme.
The meeting, according to the organisation, represents a significant step towards building institutional partnerships to advance accessible and quality healthcare delivery across Nigeria.
