Oyo terminates appointments of waste collectors 

The Oyo State Government has terminated the appointment of waste collectors in the state.

The state government made this disclosure on Friday.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni made this announcement while speaking during a meeting with some stakeholders in Ibadan, the state capital.

Oni, while addressing the gathering, reiterated that the new initiative was conceived in order to actualize the vision of keeping the state clean.

He said, “We are tired of using the same approach without getting results”.

He further assured residents of the state that the state government was taking holistic measures to ensure that the state experiences a turnaround in the environmental sector.

He also announced that the State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of a new waste management consultant.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Modupe Adeleye, while speaking, revealed that the action taken on the re-application of the PSP operators was intended to move the state forward and ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

She enjoined all the stakeholders to work with the state government in actualizing this agenda.
