Osun did not record any loss of lives from road accidents in October

The Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has said no loss of lives or accidents were recorded in the state in the month of October.

The Sector Commander, Henry Benamaisia made this known in a statement issued by the Command spokesperson, A. Useini, on Wednesday in Osogbo.

Benamaisia also revealed that, out of the 432 persons apprehended for various traffic offences in the month of October, 189 were educated on safety-related matters.

“We did not record any death in October due to the tireless effort of our officers and also co-operation from road users.

“Although we had a lone accident, the driver was unharmed and came out safely,” Benamaisia said.

He also said the command had embarked on 24 radio programmes and four television enlightenment programmes in ensuring the safety of lives and property.

“Our sensitisation on safety matters was very strong and we were able to reach the targeted audience through the media outlets.”

He further said that safety on highways must be a shared responsibility of everyone in order to help prevent any form of accident that could lead to the loss of lives and properties.

Benamaisia, however, advised motorists to embrace defensive driving techniques which would help prevent any unexpected accident on the highways.
