Victor Osimhen became the second Nigerian to win the Scudetto after Napoli’s historic feat on Thursday night.

The Partenopei claimed their first Serie A title in 33 years after playing out a 1-1 draw with Udinese at the Dacia Arena.

Obafemi Martins was the first Nigerian to achieve the feat with Inter Milan in the 2005/06 season.

Osimhen not only won it with Napoli this time, he also played a pivotal role in the Partenopei’s victory.

The 24-year-old has so far scored 22 goals and provided four assists in 27 league games this season.

The striker is now in contention to become the first African to win the Golden Boot in the Italian top-flight.

The Nigeria international now holds the record for the most goals in a Serie A season by an African player after erasing Samuel Eto’o’s old mark.

Osimhen is also now the joint highest African goalscorer ever in Serie A (46 goals).

He shares the record with former AC Milan forward George Weah, who is also now the president of Liberia.
