Osimhen, Napoli wrestle in contract talks

Victor Osimhen and Napoli are still miles apart as negotiations continue over a new contract.

Napoli have offered their talismanic forward a new two-year contract that will see him remain at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona until 2027.

A new contract and release clause have been the major stumbling block so far.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Osimhen would like his salary to be doubled in a new deal – from the current €4.5m net to around €9m net per season.

Osimhen’s camp are also pushing for a reasonable release clause.

Napoli’s offers have not come close to the €9m salary mark yet and they want to set the release clause to over €200m, creating a significant divide between the two parties.

The 24-year-old scored 31 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A champions last season.

The striker has scored six times for the Partenopei this season.
