Osimhen Blows Hot, Blasts George Finidi

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has lashed out at Finidi George, following his resignation as the head coach of Nigeria.

According to reports, Finidi accused Osimhen of pulling out of games for the national team with minor injuries.

The manager was said to have made the claim at a recent meeting with minister of sports development, John Enoh, and top officials of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF).

Osimhen, who netted 15 goals for Napoli in Serie A this season, claims he suffered an ankle injury against Lecce on May 25.

Speaking during a live session on his Instagram account on Saturday, the 25-year-old said he told Finidi to allow him to stay with the players in the camp despite the injury, but he refused.

Osimhen said: “I did the MRI scan, and the next day, I was called by the doctor to his office. Immediately, I called Finidi and I told one of my guys to do the video of my conversation with Finidi. I will not address anything, and I will let anyone believe whatever they want. Everybody knows that whether I am playing for Eagles or Napoli, I play with my heart out.

“But I will not allow disrespect from anybody. I will not allow that nonsense. I will not allow rubbish on my name. I do not care if what Finidi said is false or whatever. I will post the video and screenshots of my conversation with Finidi. I have lost the respect I have for that man.

“I asked Finidi George to allow me to stay with the players in the camp, but Finidi asked me not to bother and that I should stay with my family.”

Recall it was reported that in Finidi’s first game in charge of the Super Eagles, Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw by South Africa in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, last Friday.

A 2-1 defeat against Benin Republic in Abidjan days later, compounded the Super Eagles fate in Group C of the qualifying series, leaving them with just three points after four games.
