One killed, six suspects arrested over communal clash in Kwara communities 

Kwara State police command has confirmed the arrest of six suspects in connection with the bloody communal clash between Iwo and Odo-Ekun communities in Isin Local Government Area of the State.

The communal clash which occurred on Monday, led to the death of an unidentified farmer, while one other person was seriously injured.

Spokesman of the State police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development, said policemen were on ground to ensure law and order had been restored in the warring communities.

He further disclosed that investigation had begun into the matter.

Reports said the two communities had been engaged in age-long boundary conflict that had defied several peaceful interventions.

Trouble started when a farmer from Odo Ekun, reportedly went to one of the disputed areas but was accosted and seriously beaten by some members of Iwo community.

However, people of Odo Ekun community mobilized their members and rescued the farmer.

The development was said to have gone out of control, leading to destruction of property and the alleged killing of the farmer.
