Olodo Bridge: Segelu hails Makinde’s responsive leadership

A Germany-based Ibadan-born politician, Hon Olayinka Segelu, has applauded the efforts of the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, towards the reconstruction of Olodo Bridge, of which its destruction had occasioned a lot of inconvenience for foot-travelers and motorists.

Hon Segelu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chairman/CEO of YSEG Hotels and Suites, gave the commendation in a statement issued on Monday.

The completed right side of the Olodo Bridge along the Ibadan-Iwo Road was formally opened at the weekend to vehicular movement after nine month of closure due to its collapse.

“My sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his purposeful leadership style and the great vision he has for the Pacesetter State. This is another remarkable feat by the people’s Governor, Seyi Makinde, and a display of good governance that brings comfort to the people and enhance economic development of the State,” Segelu said.

According to the PDP stalwart, “Governor Makinde deserves applause for his demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment towards the delivery of democracy dividends to the people of Oyo State. With the reconstruction of half part of the Olodo Bridge located along a federal road and destroyed by rain in July 2023, thereby causing inconvenience to pedestrians and motorists living around the vicinity and the passersby, the governor has proven that he is indeed a responsive leader who cares about the plight of his people.

“The collapse of the bridge had caused a lot of havoc to the people living in the area. Many lives were lost, there were robbery incidents, and serious clashes among motorists as they struggle to cross the alternative route provided. The governor Seyi Makinde has done the bridge bringing so much succour and relief to the people resident in the area and people traveling along the route, even though the expressway belongs to the Federal Government. It is the only expressway linking Ibadan, Oyo State and Iwo, Osun State together.”

Dwelling on appointments by Makinde, Segelu appreciated the governor “for his recently released political appointees”.

He however observed that “The governor should not forget the true sons of Lagelu Local Government (LGA) who worked tirelessly for his re-election in 2023. We shouldn’t be marginalized in the distribution of political appointments.”
