“Old Friends” – Presidency Speaks as Tinubu, Atiku Meet in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who were political opponents in the 2023 presidential election, met on Friday at a public event in Abuja.

The meeting took place at the National Mosque during the wedding ceremony of Senator Danjuma Goje’s daughter.

The gathering was attended by several high-profile political figures, including the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and Mohammed Bala, the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. Also present were Borno South Senator Ali Ndume and former APC National Chairman Ali Modu Sheriff.

Tunde Rahman, a Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu, commented on the meeting.

According to him, politics should not involve bitterness.

“President Tinubu meets former VP Atiku, his main opponent in the last presidential election. Politics should be devoid of bitterness,” Rahman wrote on social media.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga also commented on the encounter, referring to Tinubu and Atiku as old friends and political opponents.

In the last general election, held in 2023, President Tinubu defeated Atiku to secure the presidency.
