Okupe reacts to appointment of ex-aide of Obasanjo as LP presidential campaign DG

Former Director-General of the Labour Party Campaign Council, Doyin Okupe has congratulated Prof Akin Oshuntokun on his appointment as his replacement.

Okupe had, on December 20, resigned from his position as the Obi-Datti campaign DG following his conviction for breaching the Money Laundering Act by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

However, the party on Tuesday appointed Oshuntokun, an ex-aide to former president Olusegun Obasanjo as the new campaign DG.

Reacting, Okupe in a tweet on his official Twitter handle, expressed optimism that Oshuntokun would deliver.

According to Okupe, the new DG had been a committed and foundation member of the Obidient movement.

The tweet reads: “I received the news of the appointment of my brother, bosom friend, strong ally and confidant, Prof Akin Oshuntokun, as the new DG of the LP Obi-Baba Ahmed campaign organisation.

“Oshuntokun has been a committed and foundation member of this great movement from the start. I wish him well.

“He served as political adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and was also a director of the presidential campaign of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2011.”
