Leaders of the Ohafia Community in Abia State have appealed to the former governor of the state and now Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, not to see a small skirmish in a local ward as an act targeted at him.
The Senator had embarked on the ward tour of Ohafia clan for the mid-term legislative report designed to interact and render an account of stewardship to the constituents.
At the Ohafia Udumeze community, a minor disorder ensued by some locals but was not targeted at the Senator, according to an Ohafia community leader, Prince Emma Nwosu, in a statement.
Nwosu said, “The Ward tour was a huge success, demonstrated by the carnival-like reception accorded you in all the wards visited. That was a true reflection of the love and acceptance of the Ohafia people to you.
“On behalf of the Ohafia community, I wish to express our unreserved gratitude and appreciation to you for finding time in spite of your busy and tight schedule. It was an impactful event that we have never witnessed before since the return of democratic governance in 1999.
“Your visit was a clear demonstration of love and open-mindeness towards the people of Ohafia, and we were indeed honored by your presence.”
They assured Kalu that he remains part and parcel of Ohafia Udumeze and is dearly loved by the people and that they condemned the incident.
According to them, the incident was at variance with the spirit of Ohafia traditional hospitality.
The statement commended Kalu’s efforts to take Ohafia to greater heights in the areas of infrastructure in spite of scheming by detractors and enemies of the community.
