The Ogun State House of Assembly has condemned cases of repeated armed robbery attacks in the Ago-Iwoye area of Ijebu North Local Government.
On Thursday, the former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun Assembly, Dare Kidiri, called the attention of the lawmakers to the security challenges facing his constituents.
Kadiri, who is a member representing Ijebu North II State Constituency, expressed worry over the incessant armed robbery incidents occurring in his constituency, especially Ago-Iwoye.
In his response, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, urged the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Balogun, to rejig the security architecture of the state.
This, Oluomo said, would be geared towards improving the operational surveillance of the police to address the prevailing security situations, especially the incessant cases of armed robbery in Ago-Iwoye and other parts of Ogun.
The Speaker challenged the state police command and other security agencies to up their games by reviewing their operations in the state, especially around Ago-Iwoye, a community hosting the state-owned Olabisi Onabanjo University.
He stressed the need to ensure strategic protection of whistle-blowers for effective intelligence gathering towards improving security networks for the safety of lives and property.
He urged members of the Community Development Associations, religious organizations, traditional rulers, and all residents in the state to always liaise with security operatives towards nipping crimes and criminality in the bud.
