Recall that the Freelance Journalist Federation (FJF) had nominated the NYSC trust fund among the most outstanding bills passed by the 9th national assembly in her 2022 quarterly assesment of MDAs in the country .

” All over the world, the youth of every nation are the pillars of any society and the NYSC over the decades has prioritised youth development ,national unity , cohesion as well as skills acquisition drive ” As we speak , no single agency of government has prioritise or managed a vast majority of youth population as the NYSC.

“The NYSC driven by the vision of her founding fathers has gone a step ahead to consolidate by accepting the proposal of a “trust fund” from stakeholders. Don’t forget , the trust fund initiative was a follow response to public appeal given the need to boost the enormous activities and programes of the scheme as it relates to skills acquisition , training and welfare of corps members in the country”

Let me reiterate on behalf of all Nigerian students on the African continent that the passage of the NYSC trust fund bill has not only brought hope to the nation but has further placed us among the comity of nation’s hungry and thirsty for self sustainability through the empowerment of our youth.

“On this great feat , we commend the National assembly, States and Local government , private sector players and all stakehloders , religious leaders for the grassroot support the NYSC trust fund bill gannered before and after it’s passage by the 9th NASS” above all, credit must be given to successive NYSC managements whose due diligence and transparency spurred what is today NYSC trust fund” awaiting presidential assent.

“Mr President on his part has always demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of citizens particularly the youth as it affects the general development of the nation , in this vain, we believe and appeal to mr president to ensure quick assent to the bill so that nigerian youth will reap further the enormous productive potentials imbedded in the noble objective of the Trust Fund.

As a regional student body , it is important to commend all stakeholders to demonstrate our support to this noble idea as we remain the major beneficiaries of the Fund when finally assented to by Mr President.

“While the body congratulates Nigerian youths and NYSC for the feat, it urged government to prioritise youth development in order to solve insecurity in the country .

“A skilled and productive youth won’t be available as an instrument of destabilisation , and the NYSC trust fund comes in handy to give us that hope. It should be supported by all and sundry.

The continental student body passed a vote of confidence on the NYSC management and asked for more cooperation for international students during mobilisation for their mandatary national service to fatherland .
