NULGE knocks Kaduna Assembly over rejection of Local Government Autonomy Bill

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kaduna State chapter, has expressed dismay with the Kaduna State House of Assembly for rejecting the Local Government Financial Autonomy Bill.

According to NULGE, the rejection of the bill was a serious setback to the development of the grassroots in the State.

Rayyanu Isyaku Turunku, the State chairman of NULGE, in a statement, explained that other bills received from the National Assembly were considered by the State Assembly and passed but the local government financial autonomy bill could not scale through.

The statement described the action of the Assembly as a real disappointment, saying that it was contrary to the assurances and pledges made to the union.

According to Turunku, the National Executive Council of the union would review the issue at the appropriate time and take a stand.
