NUJ mourns ace journalist, Dan Agbese

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has mourns the passing of an iconic figure in union, Mr. Dan Agbese, saying his death is a profound loss not only to the media industry but to the entire nation.

The union, in a condolence message signed by its National President, Alhassan Yahya, said Agbese was a quintessential journalist, a courageous voice, and a principled editor whose commitment to truth, integrity, and public service shaped generations of media professionals.

The statement said, “As a co-founder of Newswatch magazine, he stood firmly for ethical journalism and national accountability, leaving behind a legacy that will endure for decades.

“In recognition of his immense contributions to the profession, the National Secretariat of NUJ last year conferred on Mr Agbese the Media Icon honour at a colourful event in Lagos.

“We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, friends, and the wider media community. May his contributions continue to inspire us, and may the Almighty grant his soul eternal rest.”
