NUJ hails choice of Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as Acting Chief of Army Staff

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been commended for appointing a “Warlord” Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Yobe State Council Comrade Rajab Ismail Mohammed made the commendation in a press statement issued to journalists on Sunday 3 November 2024 in Damaturu Yobe State Capital.

He started that General Oluyede participated in several operations in the North East theatre. He recalled that General Oluyede as the then Commander 27 Task Force Brigade Buni Gari and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai, General Oluyede led operations to dismantled terrorists enclaves and logistic base and as well restored the much-needed peace in Ajigin, Damboa, Azur/Multe/Forfor, Talala, Bulabulin Mangozam, Abima, Abulam, Keloruwa, Auno, Jakana, Benishek, Ngamdu, Kukarita, Damaturu, Gujba, Goniri, Kafa, Katarko, Mutai, Buni Gari, Buni Yadi, Kamuya, Babangida, Tarmuwa, Nguru, Gashiua, Geidam, Yusufari, Yunusari, and Kanama just to mention but some few.

The NUJ Chairman further revealed his excellent Civil-Military Relationship with the Locals, Traditional Rulers including the Emir of Damaturu, Emir of Filka, Potiskum, Machina, Gashua, Nguru, and Biu Nongovernmental Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, and Journalists, describing it as the master stroke that endeared him to the good people of Yobe State and the North East Communities in general.

Once again, Comrade Rajab thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for making the right choice in appointing Major General Olufemi Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
