NUJ Abuja Kicks Off 3-Day Capacity-Building Workshop in Keffi, Dr. Chris Isiguzo Delivers Inaugural Lecture

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja FCT Council, on Monday, December 1, 2025, commenced a 3-day capacity-building workshop in Keffi, Nasarawa State, aimed at strengthening professionalism and digital adaptability among journalists.

The opening session featured the inaugural lecture delivered by Dr. Chris Isiguzo, immediate past President of the NUJ, who spoke on the theme: “Information Management in the Digital Era: Emerging Trends & Challenges.”

Dr. Isiguzo highlighted the rapidly evolving media landscape, stressing the need for journalists to embrace new technologies, fact-checking tools, and ethical reporting strategies in an age defined by artificial intelligence, misinformation, and digital disruption.

He emphasized that while the digital era presents immense opportunities for faster and broader information dissemination, it also demands heightened responsibility from journalists to uphold accuracy, integrity, and public trust.

Participants from various media organizations across the FCT attended the session, which also featured interactive discussions, practical training modules, and collaborative exercises designed to boost competency in digital reporting, multimedia storytelling, and data journalism.

The workshop continues through Wednesday, with more expert-led sessions expected to deepen participants’ knowledge and enhance newsroom readiness for emerging media trends.

The NUJ Abuja Council said the initiative aligns with its commitment to continuous professional development and raising the standards of journalism practice in Nigeria.
