The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday warned its personnel against involvement in partisan politics.
Mr Idris Adah, NSCDC Commandant in Kaduna State gave the warning while addressing Divisional Officers, Heads of Departments, Unit Heads and officers and men of the command in Kaduna.
Adah also cautioned them against involving themselves in other nefarious activities detrimental to the corporate existence and image of the corps, adding that anyone caught would be severely punished.
He reminded the officers and men that their mandate include the protection of officials and offices of the National Electoral Commission (INEC) across Kaduna state.
“You are to carry out your duties with professionalism and neutrality, before, during and after the elections,” he said.
The commandant assured residents of the state of adequate security, saying that prior to the election, officers were being trained and retrained on proper conduct.
He said that the command had commenced 24-hour patrol across the nook and cranny of the state.
“We have created more divisions and outposts, just as trained officers and men were redeployed to various outposts, divisional offices to protect lives and property,” Adah added.
He called on residents of the state to provide useful information about criminals living in their midst and serving as threat to them, for urgent arrest and persecution.
