Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has ordered a massive deployment of Officers and men of the Corps in and around schools and forests in Katsina State.

According to NSCDC press release, this is to forestall likely further attack by the bandits who, on Thursday, 23/11/2023 stormed a village near the permanent site of the Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State with a sinister attempt to abduct a large number of farmers and women.

The statement disclosed that the swift response of the NSCDC operatives stationed in the university premises as part of the Safe School Initiative measures thwarted the planned sinister move of the bandits to kidnap farmers from neighbouring communities.

It stated that the bandits, who were armed to the teeth, arrived on 10 motorcycles and initially abducted six people but, the swift response of the men of the NSCDC made it possible to rescue three women while the outlaws took away two men and one boy from Yarrumfa Village.

In the meantime, it also stated that the operatives of the NSCDC with the support of the local vigilante groups were currently combing the forest to rescue the abducted victims and rid the forest of the bandits.

It added that the Commandant General has also ordered the Katsina State Command to collaborate with sister Agencies and synergize with the university authorities, Nigeria Army and the police to work together to thwart any further planned attacks.
