NSCDC detains 76 suspected of hosting same-sex wedding in Gombe

The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested at least 76 suspects in connection with their alleged involvement in organising a same-sex wedding event.

The Gombe NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Buhari Sa’ad, made this announcement while presenting the suspects to the media at the command’s headquarters in Gombe.

According to Sa’ad, NSCDC agents conducted a raid, disrupting the event in progress.

“They were arrested at Duwa Plaza along Bauchi-Gombe Expressway while holding a homosexual birthday, and they had plans to hold a same-sex wedding before our men raided the scene,” he stated.

Sa’ad said further: “Fifty-nine males were arrested, 21 willfully confessed to being homosexuals, and 17 females present at the scene were also picked up. They will be charged to court to answer for their crime, which is a social vice; a crime in Gombe State.”
