The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended five men for allegedly dealing in adulterated petroleum products in Ondo State.

The arrests were made during a joint operation with Tantita Security Services and the Nigerian Army on the waterways in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje LGA.

The suspects, Orofin Olorunjuwon, Enigbewo Sunday, Ayeyiwa Ilumaro, Owoyemi Ete and Okorisa Noah, were found in possession of two large wooden boats filled with approximately 250,000 litres of adulterated petroleum products. The operation also led to the seizure of three outboard boat engines and two pumping machines.

In a statement on Tuesday, Daniel Aidamenbor, the spokesperson of the NSCDC in Ondo State, confirmed the arrests and disclosed that the joint task force set the illegally acquired petroleum products ablaze on the high sea.
