Northern governors, traditional rulers hold emergency security meeting in Kaduna

The Northern States Governors’ Forum and Northern Traditional Leaders Council are currently in an emergency meeting at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, amid escalating security concerns across the region.

According to the report, the governors gathered to discuss the banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and farmer-herder clashes that have claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands of people in recent months.

The closed-door meeting is headed by the Forum’s Chairman and Gombe State Governor, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III.

Also on the traditional side is focused almost entirely on the deteriorating security situation in Northern Nigeria.

Recall that terrorists and bandits have been on a rampage for the past two weeks in the northern part of the country, killing and abducting schoolgirls and also attacking churches in Kwara and Kogi states.
