NLC President Ajaero to be Quizzed by Nigerian Authorities over Alleged Terrorism Financing

The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, is set to appear before the Nigeria Police today for questioning over allegations of terrorism financing, criminal conspiracy, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.

Ajaero, who received a formal invitation from the police on August 19, 2024, will be accompanied by labour leaders and NLC legal representatives at the IRT Complex in Abuja.

The head of information and public affairs of the NLC, Comrade Benson Upah, expressed hope that the police would conduct themselves lawfully and responsibly during the engagement.

“Ajaero will appear today; it depends on what the police do. I’m hoping that the police, as a responsible organisation, conduct themselves well,” Upah said.

Ajaero’s appearance before the police is scheduled for 10 am today at the IRT Complex, Old Abattoir by Guzape Junction, Abuja.

It can be recalled that in response to the police invitation, the NLC warned of a potential nationwide strike if Ajaero is detained.
