The oldest Catholic priest in Nigeria, Rt. Rev. Monsignor Thomas Oleghe has passed away at the age of 104.
According to a statement released by Gabriel Dunia, the Bishop of Auchi, Oleghe died in the early hours of Sunday, November 24, 2024, at approximately 2:30 am.
The statement expressed gratitude for Oleghe’s long life, acknowledging his dedication to the Catholic faith.
Part of the statement read: “With gratitude to God for a life well lived on earth, I hereby inform you of the passing of Rt. Rev. MSGR Thomas Oleghe, the oldest Catholic priest in Nigeria as of today, to the great beyond at approximately 2:30 am this morning, November 24, 2024.”
The funeral of the revered cleric will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, as announced by the Diocese of Auchi.
