Nigerian Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat is dead

A popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat has passed away.

Rukayat, who is popular for her Islamic songs, died on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

The news of her death was shared by popular Ilorin based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

Jubril Gawat, a member of the Gawat family, and one of the media aides to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a tweet in the early hours of Tuesday, September 24.

In his tweet on X, he wrote, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156,” he wrote at about 7:52 AM.

The tweet has garnered so much traction with followers and associates expressing their condolences.

It was gathered that her remains will be interred later today according to Islamic tenets and rites.

The deceased singer was married to Insurace guru, Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso.

The late Rukayat was regarded as one of the leading Islamic musicians in Nigeria. She was a woman of substance who is passionate about women’s responsibilities in a home which she often reflects in her songs.
