Nigerian Army kills Boko Haram commander, Shekau, 4 others in Yobe

A Boko Haram Commander, Abubakar Shekau and four others have been killed in Yobe State by troops of Sector 2, Operation Hadin Kai.

Shekau and the others were killed during a fierce gun battle.

The troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, successfully repelled the attempted attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Sabon Fagi community in Buni Yadi, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Intelligence sources told a Security analyst and Counter-insurgency in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama that the attack occurred at 11:00 p.m.

The troops recovered several weapons from the insurgents after engaging them with superior firepower, forcing others to flee and securing a decisive victory for the security forces.

Shekau, a staunch loyalist and admirer of the late Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, was considered a significant figure within the terror group.

His father had named him Shekau after Abubakar Shekau as a mark of reverence for the group’s former ruthless leader
