Nigerian Air Force airlifts election materials for INEC ahead of Edo election

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced the airlift of sensitive election materials for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Benin, Edo State, in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for 21 September 2024.

The initiative is part of efforts to ensure that election materials are delivered safely and promptly.

NAF and INEC had agreed to collaborate to ensure that logistical needs are met ahead of the crucial election.

The partnership between both organizations is geared toward enhancing the credibility of the election through efficient and secure transportation of materials.

Recall that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, had reaffirmed NAF’s commitment to supporting INEC during a recent meeting with the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu.

The CAS emphasized that the Nigerian Air Force would provide Military Aid to Civil Authority by airlifting essential electoral materials.

Meanwhile, election observers say the timely airlift of the election materials indicates INEC’s readiness for the Edo State governorship election, as the electoral body prepares to manage one of the most highly anticipated contests of the year.
