Nigeria vs Sierra Leone: Peseiro issues warning to Super Eagles stars

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has warned his players that they must prove on the pitch that they are ‘better’ when they face Sierra Leone in Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Abuja.

Peseiro’s men will host Sierra Leone in their first game of the 2023 AFCON qualifier at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.

Nigeria is favourites to secure the three points against Sierra Leone as they look to put the disappointment of not qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar behind them.

And Peseiro believes any team can beat any team with good organization and commitment.

“Our team is better than Sierra Leone, it’s true and no one can doubt that,” Peseiro said during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

“But we need to show it in our football because any team can beat any team with good organization and commitment.

“You can create lots of opportunities and don’t score while the other team can create one and score. Our team is the favourite for tomorrow but we need to show on the field that we want to win.”
