Niger Gov Bago approves N80,000 monthly salary for hospital casual staff

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has approved a monthly salary of N80,000 for casual hospital workers across the state.

This directive comes in response to complaints from casual employees at the Minna General Hospital regarding their employment status.

Bago, who stated this during a meeting with aggrieved casual workers in Minna who had reported being short-changed, during a recent conversion exercise embarked upon by his administration.

He emphasized that this decision ensures casual workers receive compensation in line with the state’s approved minimum wage.

However, he noted that absorbing all casual workers into the state civil service isn’t feasible.

According to him, casual workers with degree qualifications who have served 10 to 15 years will receive automatic appointments, while those with diploma certificates will be appointed on probation, with the expectation that they upgrade their qualifications within three years.
