Niger CP cautions youth leaders against illicit acts

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Ogundele J. Ayodeji, has cautioned youth leaders in the state against illicit acts as the 2023 general election fast approaches. He urged them not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs before, during and after the general elections.

He admonished them to steer clear of acts of thuggery, violence and any form of social vices in the state.

Ayodeji stated this during a visit by the Government and Community Youths Leaders Relations Committee, led by Amb. Umar Muhammad, the state coordinator of Youth Empowerment and Mobilization.

The Commissioner of Police said the high rate of youth restiveness in the state when he assumed has drastically reduced.

“The Command has been able to surmount these challenges, and youth restiveness has drastically reduced, due to efforts of constant night patrols with the Operations department,” he noted.

He stated further: “The Command will not relent in its constant visibility, day and night patrols of every nook and cranny of the metropolis and the state at large and [will continue to] send warning signals to those who may want to foment troubles.”

Earlier, Umar Muhammad in his address said the purpose of the visit was to familiarize themselves with the command and to inform the CP of the existence of the committee.
