NBTE grants Full Accreditation to Kogi Vocational/ Technical School, NKFI, 8 years after

The Nigeria – Korea Friendship Institute, Lokoja, Kogi state which deals mainly on vocational and technical training has secured full accreditation of all its courses from the National Board Technical Education, (NBTC)

The Rector of the institution, Williams Charles Oluwatoyin disclosed this on Monday in Lokoja during the official opening of the institution’s Automobiles workshop to the general public.

Aside the full accreditation of their courses, the Rector also announced a scholarship scheme for some students of the institution bankrolled by the Director General of the Kogi State Government House, Dr. Shaibu Oricha.

“You would recall that between the 19 – 21 of December, 2023, the delegation from the Nigeria Board of Technical Education were at our institution to carry out an accreditation exercise of all our programs. The visitation was a reflection of hard work and commitment to birthing tangible changes under my Rectorship.

“We are so delighted to announce to you and the entire public that the NBTE have granted full accreditation to all the the programmes in our institution. These programmes including National Innovation Diploma (NID) Computer Software Engineering, NID Welding and Fabrication, NID Network and System Security, NID Electrical/Electronic Engineering and NVC Automotive Mechatronics were accredited with effect from January 2024.

Charles said the full accreditation status has poised them to deliver on their mandate, “While this phase in our sojourn is laid to rest, for now till 2029, we are committed to raising the bar of academic excellence, fostering the actualization of our mission and vision as well as our keen interest to emerge as a global reputable and competitive institute of vocational and technical learning. We strongly remain unwavering and ever committed to ensuring that we nip in the bud issues of unemployment, through our plans to produce highly employable and skilled professionals.”

On the scholarship, the rector said, “When I resumed, one of the very key strategy we adopted was a continued advocacy to individuals that cut across the traditional, religious, political and humanitarian sector, suggesting to many of them to sponsor young men and women from their respective locality. Many well meaning individuals responded favourably. Very remarkable is the Director General, Kogi State Government House administration. Dr. Shaibu Oricha has decided to sponsor 30 individuals in an annual scholarship scheme cutting across the 21 Local government areas of the state.

“We want to use this opportunity to again urge those who are in respective positions of authority and possess the financial weight to emulate men like Dr. Oricha and toe the path of investing in the younger ones for the collective good of the people of Kogi state and the nation by extension.

“On a final note, we are announcing officially that we are opening our Automobile workshop to the use of members of the general publics as a service stations for their automobiles. Although, services rendered would come at a cost, but it will be largely discounted. You can be rest assur if top notch services as we have arrays of internationally trained professionals and equipments.
