Navy, Police nab three suspects who killed naval officer in Ondo

Three individuals linked to the brutal murder of a naval officer in Idoani community, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, have been arrested by the State Police Command.

The suspects were apprehended in different parts of the community following attempts to escape shortly after perpetrating the crime.

The naval officer lost his life when he was struck with an iron rod by the suspects following a dispute with a commercial motorcyclist.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Fumilayo Omisanya, disclosed the arrest of the suspects, saying the three other individuals involved in the naval officer’s murder are currently being tracked.

The PPRO stated, “Thanks to the prompt action of our officers, three of the suspects have been apprehended.

“The remaining three individuals connected to the naval officer’s killing are presently on the run.

“However, I can assure you that they will also be arrested and held accountable for their actions.”

Idoani had a few days ago been engulfed in tension when a group of six persons murdered a naval officer attached to the Navy School in Imeri.

In response to this incident, a significant number of military personnel arrived in the community to arrest the individuals involved in the officer’s death.

Due to the fear of being arrested, numerous young men in the community fled the area while other residents expressed concerns about possible reprisals from the deceased officer’s comrades.

Meanwhile, the community has remained deserted as people are afraid of further arrests by security operatives who have remained in the area.
