Napoli captain backs Osimhen’s decision to travel for CAF Awards

Napoli captain Giovanni De Lorenzo claimed Victor Osimhen was right to travel to Marrakech, Morocco, on the eve of the team’s UEFA Champions League clash against Braga.

Osimhen was in Marrakech on Monday to receive his Men’s Player of the Year gong at the CAF Awards 2023.

The 24-year-old returned to Naples after the ceremony and was named in the starting line-up for the game against Braga at the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Nigeria international scored the Partenopei’s second goal on the night.

“Traveling doesn’t lead to tiredness, it was an important prize and it was right that he went to collect it,” Di Lorenzo said per Napoli Magazine.

“I’m interested in what he gives on the pitch and in training, no one has ever questioned his commitment and attitude, just look at it. I’m happy that he’s back to scoring, it’s important for him.”
