N2.4 billion fraud: Former NEXIM Bank MD Orya bags 490 years’ jail term

‎A former Managing Director of the Nigerian Import Export Bank (NEXIM), Robert Orya has been sentenced to 490 years’ jail term.

‎Orya was convicted by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Thursday, January 5, following charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

‎Orya who served as NEXIM boss between 2011 and 2016 was prosecuted by EFCC’s Samuel Ugwuegbulam over fraud allegations of N2.4 billion.

‎Delivering his judgement, Justice F.E. Messiri convicted the former NEXIM Bank MD and sentenced him to ten years imprisonment on each of the 49 count charges levelled against him.

‎The judge also ruled that the sentences will run concurrently.
