Minna-Bida road project will improve economic status of communities — Niger government

The Niger State Government has revealed that work has been intensified on numerous ongoing road projects across the state as part of its efforts to stimulate the socio-economic well-being of rural and urban communities of the state.

The governor’s Special Adviser on Digital Media and Strategy Abdullberqy, Usman Ebbo, made this known in Minna.

He explained that the projects were embarked upon to ameliorate the plights of citizens by boosting their economic growth, improving living standards, and improving access to health facilities and markets for agricultural produce, among others.

Ebbo stated that one of the major components of the state government’s effort is the upgrading and dualisation of the 82km Minna-Kataeregi-Bida road project, which has been divided into three lots to ease construction and supervision.

According to him: “This includes river crossings like major bridges and minor side cross-drainage structures, as well as undertaking related technical supervision and consulting services. The government will also carry out social interventions in some communities along the project corridor.

” The road project also entails the construction of pedestrian bridges, toll gates, and interchange construction at Minna and Bida town, just as the Minna-Kataeregi-Bida Road Project is divided into three lots.”

The media aide further explained that each of the three lots is financed by the Niger State Government, Islamic Development Bank and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, respectively, noting that all three contractors are on site and working without hitches.

Ebbo stated: “Lot One starts from Kpakungu to before Garatu (CH0+000-CH15+000) and was awarded to Messrs Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company (Nig.) Limited; Lot Two is from Garatu to Kakapkangi (CH15+000-CH55+000), 40km was awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, while Lot Three, from Kakapkangi to Bida (CH55+000 – CH82+000) is 27km long and was awarded to Messrs Arab Contractors O.A.O. Nigeria Ltd./Arab Contractors O.A.O., Egypt (JV)”.
