Manchester United’s Premier League rival Newcastle have emerged as one of the favourites to sign forward Cristiano Ronaldo amid reports the Portugal captain is seeking an early exit from Al-Nassr, as reported by Daily Mail.
Ronaldo’s £175 million-a-year contract with Al-Nassr will expire in 2025.
The 38-year-old signed the deal with Al-Nassr after mutually agreeing to leave his former club Manchester United last November.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been in fine scoring form for Al-Nassr since his arrival, scoring 12 goals in the league so far.
However, Ronaldo reportedly wants to leave the Saudi Arabia club just months after his arrival, with former club Real Madrid said to be willing to offer him a non-playing role as an ambassador.
But according to the report, Newcastle, who have all-but secured Champions League football for next season, are at 6/1 to sign Ronaldo ahead of Real Madrid and Sporting.
