Man bags one month community service for stealing

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday sentenced a 35-year-old man, George Joseph, to one month community service for stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr Tomiwa Daramola, sentenced Joseph following his guilty plea and facts of the case.

Daramola, ruled that the convict hereby sentenced to one month community service to be supervised by the Nigeria Correctional Centre officer in Ado-Ekiti.

The Prosecutor, Insp Elijah Adejare, told the court that Joseph committed the offence on Aug.6 at Ile Abiye in Ado-Ekiti.

Adejare said that the defendant stole one keyboard converter valued at N10, 000 and one handkerchief valued at N500 belonging to St. Luke Anglican Church Ile Abiye, Ado-Ekiti.

He added that the convict confessed to the crime and the police recovered the stolen items from him.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
