Man arraigned over alleged unlawful assembly

One Olalekan Tajudeen, 40, was arraigned on Wednesday before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for alleged unlawful gathering.

Tajudeen, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and unlawful assembly.

The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that Tajudeen allegedly committed the offence on Jan. 19, at about 7.50 p.m., at Apete area, Ibadan.

Amusan alleged that the defendant and others at large conspired to commit felony to wit unlawful assembly, by gathering at the aforementioned area unlawfully.

He said the offence contravened Sections 516 and 69 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case till March 11, for hearing.
