Man, 31, in court over alleged housebreaking, theft

A 31-year-old man, Olaoluwa Oni, was on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged housebreaking and stealing.

Oni, whose address was not given, is standing trial on a two-count charge of housebreaking and stealing.

The police prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in July at about 10:00 a.m., at Alafia Zone 2 Area in Ado-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendant broke and entered into the room of of one Arisanjin Tunrayo.

“The defendant stole the following items; Foodstuffs valued at N80,000, cooking gas 6kg valued at N15,000, 6 bundles of roofing sink valued at N300,000 and cash sum of N100,000 belonging to the complainant,” he said.

According to him, the offences contravened Sections 322 and 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case till Sept.13 for hearing.
