Major defection in Kano as ex-Kwankwaso ally Yunusa Adamu Dangwani joins APC

Yunusa Adamu Dangwani, a former top confidant of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and an influential figure in Kano politics, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection ceremony, held in Kano, was led by Kano State APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas and witnessed the entry of dozens of other former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members into the ruling party.

“I am aligning with a party that I believe has the structure, leadership, and resolve to fulfill its promises to Nigerians,” Dangwani declared at the event.Nigerian political art prints

Dangwani’s past ties to Kwankwaso (NNPP’s national leader) make this defection a serious blow to NNPP’s strength in Kano.

His defection is seen as a strategic boost to the APC’s grassroots mobilization and northern outreach.

APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas welcomed the defectors, promising “equal opportunities and full integration” into the party’s structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
