Lt Col Appolonia Anaele becomes Nigerian Army first female spokesperson

The Nigerian Army on Wednesday, April 16, appointed Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anaele as its first female spokesperson.

Anaele was named the acting Director of Army Public Relations for the Nigerian Army.

She is expected to officially take over the mantle of leadership from the current spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Her appointment marks a major milestone for the Army which has been in existence for 50 years since its establishment.
