Lower voter turnout mars Ondo LG Poll

The ongoing Local Government Council Poll in Ondo State has been marred by low voters turnout.

Politics Nigeria gathered that officials of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) were at the voting locations as of 8am on Saturday but the voters were nowhere to be found.

Recall that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party had earlier announced that it was pulling out of the LG council elections slated for January 18, 2025.

The announcement by the PDP comes after the ODIEC fielded 13 political party candidates for the poll.

However, on the set date, electoral officers were seen waiting for voters to arrive in the areas.

At the Sacred Heart Primary School, there were less than 20 voters present as at 11.30 am.

The same experience was noticed at various other voting units across LGs in the state.
