Liverpool player Diogo Jota dies in car accident

Liverpool player, Diogo Jota, has died in a car crash, according to the Spanish news agency EFE.

The Portuguese winger, aged 28, was involved in the accident in Zamora, Spain.

Jota had reportedly been travelling in a car with his brother Andre, who is also a 26-year-old footballer, when the vehicle went off-road.

The tragic news comes just two weeks after Jota married his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso in Porto. The couple has three children.

Jota, born in 1996, was a key figure for both Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team.

Jota was widely regarded for his tenacity, goal-scoring instinct, and versatility on the pitch.

Further details surrounding the crash and funeral arrangements are yet to be announced as of press time.
